Student Comments about the Class or Instructor

Thanks Dr. Dion, I greatly enjoyed your class as always and learned a great deal. Thanks!

I enjoyed this class very much as it gave me a chance to understand better the current situation in Latin America. Now I have good political and economical understandings so that I can have proper arguments with my father and others. Thank you and enjoy your year in Austin!

I feel that the course was very effective and interesting. The one comment that I might add is that it would be nicer to have more more discussions during class. I feel I would have understood the material a little better that way. Other than that I think the class was great.

Writing notes on the board to keep the students on the same page and with the same idea was a very helpful. However, I think taking it alittle slower with more details would have help me understand the course better. Even though, I may have read the material, it was really hard for me to understand some of the concepts discussed in the text. The words in the book were also very unfamiliar political/economic vocabulary words so it was hard to connect the main idea. I have never taken political science in college so some of the readings were overwhelming. Overall, I''ve gained so much knowledge about the Latin American countries. I understand now why the countries of Latin America is suffering and have a better view of how the Latin American government works.

The best part about your teaching style is the openness and comfort that you create in the classroom. From the very first day you appear open and friendly and your interesting introductions really break the ice. By sharing a lot about yourself, you encourage others to speak up and make class discussion easier and less intimidating. Overall, you are the best teacher I''ve had at Georgia Tech. Keep it up!

Dr. Dion I just wanted to let you know, even though I am an engineer and we don''t typically enjoy this type of ''stuff,'' I really enjoyed coming to your class every day. You are a great teacher! I hope you have a great time in Mexico! Thanks, Christine
