Student Comments about individual question

1. Course Seemed Well Planned And Organized
I Am In The End Impressed With How Much We Covered In So Little Time, And How Well All Of It Related In A Fashion Conducive To Understanding The Topics.
The Syllabus, Which Contained A Timeline Of The Readings And Topics Covered In Class, Was Very Easy To Follow.
We Rarely Deviated From The Syllabus.
We Stuck To The Schedule Well, And The Schedule Made Sense

2. Good Job Covering Course Objectives/Content
We Covered Everything In Class Which We Needed To Know

3. Explained Complex Material Clearly
Anytime Something Was Not Understood I Felt You Explained It Well Beyond A Typical Teacher, And Would Ensure The Questions Were Answered Before Moving On.
She Always Encouraged Questions And Would Spend The Necessary Time To Answer Them.
She Always Included Examples And Simplified Explanations To Make The Content More Understandable.
Sometimes It Was Necessary To Look Things Up On The Internet To Fully Grasp Them.

4. Was Approachable And Willing To Assist
She Was Very Friendly And Open, Always Reminding Students Of Office Hours And Answering Questions Posted On Tsquare

5. Encouraged Students To Consult With Him/Her
See Above

6. Class Attendance Important In Promoting Learning Of Material
Missing A Day Here And There Was Not Terribly Detrimental For Self Motivated Individuals Keeping Up With Readings, But Deprived From Useful And Engaging Lectures.
Without The In-Class Discussions This Class Would Have Been Impossible.

7. Number Of Course Assignments Was Appropriate.
It Was A Lot For A Summer Course, But In The End, I Wouldn''T Prefer To Take It Over 14 Weeks. I Felt I Learned A Lot More Because I Had To, And Enjoyed It.

8. Exams Covered Course Content/Objectives
The Quizzes Covered Topics Discussed Always, But Some Questions Did Have Overlap. See Below.

9. Exams And Quizzes Were Of Appropriate Difficulty.
Having Short Answer Questions Forced You To Know Terms That Would Be Used For Essays Later In The Tests. That Was A Good Idea
Perfect Balance, I Feel. Sufficiently Hard That After Taking And Making A Good Grade I Feel Accomplished.

10. The Instructor Was An Effective Teacher
Dr. Dion, This Class Was One Of The First Real Examples Of Education I''Ve Had At Gt And I''Ve Spent 5 Semesters Here Now. Thanks
Professor Dion Made The Information Extremely Interesting And Really Clear. The Exams Were Difficult But Very Fair. I Would Definitely Want To Take One Of Her Classes Again.
You Are A Fabulous Teacher And I Am Somewhat Sad I Can''T Take Any More Of Your Classes. Hope You Get Tenure Soon!

Student Comments about the Class or Instructor

Great teacher. I really enjoyed the structure of class. Being able to discussed what we read was a big help in understanding the material. I think that I also learned more critical reading skills in understanding complex material.

Professor Dion was an amazingly effective teacher and really helped explain complex material that I never would have understood on my own. I felt like I was really learning beneficial and pertinent material in this class that would help me in the ''real world.'' This course was challenging but also very rewarding!

Great Class! Thank you! I hadn''t taken any INTA classes prior to your course, and you really helped me gain a better grasp on current and prior international issues.

I thought Professor Dion was a great teacher. I really enjoyed her, and only wish I had had her for more classes.

Great instructor. Good class.

Great teacher

I felt like I learned a lot in the course without the addition of unnecessary stress. In other words, though the material was challenging and the reading was time consuming, it seemed very proportional to what I was actually getting out of the class.

I hardly felt lectured to over the course, always more of a presentation or discussion, despite sometimes reluctance to participate from most of the class. From above 6: some test questions did overlap. It is possible that was intentional to test on the material you may have felt the most important, to ensure it was learned. The second test was primarily a test over north, with 2 or more questions (it''s been a while) covering some aspect of his theories. Today''s exam covered transgovernmentalism more than once, and another (I can''t remember these things at all :/). Like I said, it may be deliberate, but I think a more rounded test that doesn''t leave out some covered material might be more fair for everyone. Additionally, in regards to course content and objectives, the 6 week course of IPE really was preferable to me. I took it on a whim, and am very pleased with the results. I feel I have a very good understanding of all the readings and theories covered, because I had to make sure I did very frequently (ie for each test). Dragging the process out longer to me would make it harder to retain each theory and nuances, detracting from the overall experience. I know you mentioned you wouldn''t teach this again, and maybe I''m alone in my thoughts, but I would highly recommend this course if you''re teaching it during the summer. Do have a great vacation (or, hope you had a great vacation since you''re reading this 3 August), and I hope your conference went smashingly. See you this Fall!

I think the Prof was great. Some of the readings seemed a bit too long but it was a short semester so there''s nothing you can really do about that. This class was great because econ by itself is boring as Dave Matthew''s......Band. Haha. 10 points for Griffindoor!!!

Great class. Tests were pretty difficult but I felt prepared for all of them by completing the readings and taking part in class discussions. The amount of reading did seem overwhelming at times but that is most likely due to the fact that it was scrunched in to 6 weeks.

This was one of my top 2 or 3 favorite INTA courses. The material was practical and very usefull. Michelle Dion was an excellent professor. The use of dialogue in class really helped to make the course engaging, and made coming to class beneficial. I thought the readings, lecture, and tests tied in very well together. A lot of course i have taken these three things do not always compliment each other, but i felt like this one was very cohesive, and there was never any question in my mind what i was supposed to be learning. Great class.

Glad I got you before you get tenure =) j/k...the class was well thought-out and effective. I particularly enjoyed the class discussions that brought economic concepts into the real world (mexican coin-op bathrooms, for instance). As for suggestions in the future, perhaps more visual aids (powerpoints, etc.) or more thought-out board diagrams during lecture.
